Sidney Nicholls struck out 10 and pitched a two-hit shutout in the top-seeded Panthers’ (17-1) Class B South semifinal win over the fifth-seeded Knights (11-7) in Waldoboro.
Medomak Valley, the reigning state champion, advances to the regional title game against No. 3 Lake Region (14-4) on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s College.
Panthers catcher Arianna Sproul went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs. Rheanne Simmons contributed two hits, two runs and two RBI, while McKenna Hertel had two hits, including a triple, scored twice and drove in a run. Grace Havener also had two hits for Medomak Valley.
Julia Paradis and Karlee Lothrop had Poland’s two hits.
