Evelyn Pettengill produced with her bat and had a solid pitching outing to lead the second-seeded Mustangs (16-2) into the regional final with a hard-fought Class C South semifinal win over the No. 6 Raiders (8-10) in Monmouth.

The Mustangs will face top-seeded Dirigo (17-2) in the regional title game Tuesday at the University of Southern Maine. Monmouth is the only team to beat the Cougars this season.

Pettengill went 2 for 3 at the plate, one of her hits a two-run triple during Monmouth’s four-run third inning. She finished with three RBI and scored twice. In the circle, she struck out five while scattering eight hits in seven innings.

Catcher Lila Poussard drove in two runs for the Mustangs.

Oak Hill’s Izzy Whitaker also was a standout at the plate and in the circle. She was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBI, and she pitched all six innings, fanning five and allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Robyn Babbidge also had three hits for the Raiders.
