LEAVITT AT CAPE ELIZABETH
September 8, 2023
Noah Carpenter passed for three touchdowns in the first quarter, starting the Hornets (2-0) on their way to a blowout win against the Capers (0-2) in Cape Elizabeth.
Leavitt, ranked second in the Varsity Maine top 10, scored on its first five possessions while building a 37-0 halftime lead.
The Hornets struck on their first play from scrimmage, after a penalty, as Carpenter connected with Aiden Turcotte for a 43-yard touchdown.
Later in the first, Will Keach caught a 26-yard scoring pass, and Maddox Demers scored on a 48-yard reception. A conversion pass from Keach to Colten Taylor after the third TD made it 22-0.
Carpenter (18 yards) and Keach (14 yards) added touchdown runs in the second quarter.
Demers capped Leavitt’s opening drive of the second half with a 4-yard run. Cape Elizabeth then drove for its only touchdown – a 1-yard run by Mike Foley – just before the third quarter ended, and the game was called at that point with bad weather approaching.
