MT. ABRAM 9, MADISON 1

Kaden Pillsbury had two hits and was one of four Mt. Abram (13-4) pitchers to combine on a three-hitter as the fifth-seeded Roadrunners downed No. 12 Madison (4-12) in Salem Township.

One of Pillsbury’s hits was a double. He also pitched a scoreless sixth as the second reliever out of the bullpen.

Payton Mitchell started and pitched the first 2 2/3 innings before Logan Dube took over. Dube lasted through the end of the fifth before Pillsbury took over. Bryce Wilcox pitched the seventh. The quartet combined to strike out nine batters. The Roadrunners defense helped out by turning double plays in the first and fourth innings.

Bulldogs starter Austin Hay (four innings) and reliever Matt Haley (two innings) combined to allow four hits. Madison committed nine errors in the field.

Mt. Abram took a 1-0 lead in the first and stretched the advantage to 7-0 after two innings. Madison scored its run in the top of the third and the Roadrunners countered with one of their own in the bottom half of the inning. They scored their final run in the sixth.
