The second-seeded Mustangs (17-1) won a low-scoring, low-hit and low-strikeout battle against the third-seeded Raiders (14-4) in a Class C South semifinal at Colby College in Waterville.

Each team had five hits — all singles. Monmouth pitchers Sammy Calder and Isaac Oliveira combined for five strikeouts, and Oak Hill starter Kyle Delano and reliever Trent Drouin each fanned one batter. Each team committed one error.

The Raiders scored first, going up 1-0 when Landon Bangs drove in Landen Denis in the second inning. The Mustangs took the lead with two runs in the third, and the plated one more in the fifth.

Kyle Palleschi had a game-high two hits and scored one of Monmouth’s runs. Matt Marquis and Brandon Smith also scored. Marquis, Oliveira and Manny Calder each drove in a run.

Sammy Calder pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits and one walk and striking out three to earn the win. Oliveira secured a save by striking out two and limiting Oak Hill to one hit in two innings.

Denis, Bangs, Grayson Letourneau, Cooper Spencer and Zak Beans singled for the Raiders. Delano gave up five hits and walked three in 4 1/3 innings. Drouin didn’t allow a hit or walk a batter in 1 2/3 innings.

Monmouth advances to face No. 1 Sacopee Valley (18-0) in the C South final on Tuesday at the University of Southern Maine.
