DIRIGO 11, MT. ABRAM 7
The sixth-seeded Cougars (10-7) scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a tie and beat the 11th-seeded Roadrunners (5-12) in a Class C South prelim in Dixfield.
Mt. Abram evened the game at 7-7 with six runs in the top of the fifth before Dirigo responded to put the game away.
Grace Robbins earned the win in the circle for the Cougars, striking out five in seven innings. She also had two hits at the plate.
Lana Waite, Kallie Errington and Emma MacFarlane also had two hits apiece for a Dirigo team that had nine hits. Errington and Jayce Brophy hit doubles.
Abi Wilcox had three hits to pace the Mt. Abram lineup, and Savannah Davis, Aiyana Savage and Jany Pepin each pitched in with two. Savage hit a double.
Adrianna Stinchfield struck out eight batters in six innings for the Roadrunners.
