SCARBOROUGH 9, SOUTH PORTLAND 6, 9 INNINGS
Kaiden Carrell hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the ninth inning, Ryan Shugars added a sacrifice fly, and Scarborough wrapped up an impressive regular season with a 9-6 win over South Portland in a Class A South baseball game Wednesday in South Portland.
Shugars struck out 11 over the first six innings, and Cam Dean was credited with the win after three scoreless innings in relief.
Finn Coburn hit two doubles, and Matthew Fallona and Kam Duggan also had two hits for Scarborough, which will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed as it seeks a second straight state championship.
South Portland was held to five hits — two by Michael Zaccaria.
