Erik Swenson saw his streak of hitless innings come to an end, but the senior right-hander struck out 11 as the Red Storm (12-0) turned back the Golden Trojans (10-3) in Scarborough.

Swenson entered the game with 18 consecutive inning without allowing a hit — a stretch that included a no-hitter, a perfect game and a combined perfect game (with Ryan Shugars). Against Thornton, the senior right-hander yielded five hits, and his scoreless streak ended when Thornton tied the game with two runs in the fifth.

The reigning Class A champions quickly answered, though, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Matthew Fallona paced Scarborough’s offense with three hits. Jacob Fish had two hits for Thornton.
