Aleiah Ward was 3 for 3 with two home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored, and Lana Waite was 5 for 5 with a home run, a double and three RBI as the Cougars (1-3) won a five-inning game against the Phoenix (2-3) in Jay.
Waite also was the winning pitcher, striking out eight while allowing three runs over four innings.
The top four hitters in Dirigo’s lineup combined for 17 RBI. Nikole Turnbull drove in four runs, and Emily Woods and Hannah Hamner each had two hits and two RBI.
Spruce Mountain’s Santika Hodgkin was 3 for 3 with a triple, and Ashley Nelson went 2 for 2.
