LISBON 6, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2, 5 INNINGS

The Greyhounds (12-4) scored twice on an error in the bottom of the fifth inning to earn a come-from-behind walk-off win and wrap their regular season with a doubleheader sweep of the Phoenix (7-9) in Jay.

Both teams opened the second game with a pair of first-inning runs. Spruce Mountain pulled ahead, 3-2, in the third inning when Samantha Martin drew a bases-loaded walk. Mackenzie Eaton took over in the circle for Lisbon and held the Phoenix hitless and scoreless over the final 2 2/3 innings while striking out six and walking one batter.

The Phoenix were one out from victory before their fifth error of the game that gave the Greyhounds a 4-3 victory. All four of Lisbon’s runs were unearned.

Ava Kottmann, the Greyhounds’ starting pitcher, had a game-high two hits, while Eaton singled and drove in a run.

In the opener, Sophia Bowie homered and drove in two runs, and Eaton again excelled at the plate and in the circle in Lisbon’s 6-2 triumph.

Eaton had two hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored once. She also pitched all five innings and struck out seven batters while walking two and allowing three hits.

One of Spruce Mountain’s three hits was a double by Santika Hodgkin, who, along with Tyoaka Hodgkin and Rylee Turner, recorded a hit in each game.

Turner pitched the entirety of both games. She compiled nine strikeouts, including seven in the opener, and allowed 14 hits in 9 2/3 innings. Only five of Lisbon’s combined 10 runs were earned.
