A pair of first-inning runs jump-started the Falcons’ victory over the Raiders in a Mountain Valley Conference matchup in Wales.

Ali Mazza doubled home a run and Maddy Brown brought in another on a sacrifice groundout to give Mountain Valley (10-4) a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Layce Boucher and Madison Blanchard also drove in runs for the Falcons, who have won three straight and rank third in the Class C South Heal point standings. Kyanah Wing led Mountain Valley with two hits, and Isabella Dupuis had a double.

Addison Libby went the distance in the circle to earn the win, striking out four and scattering six hits over seven innings.

Oak Hill (6-7) pitcher Izzy Whitaker also pitched a complete game. She struck out seven batters, walked four and allowed six hits and one earned run.

Whitaker produced at the plate, as well, going 2 for 3 with a double and a run. Carlee Austin also hit a double for the Raiders.
