Ryleigh Carey singled home Layla Clark to break a 3-3 tie in the second inning, and the River Hawks (6-1) led the rest of the way against the Cougars (3-2) in Skowhegan.
Mt. Blue grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, sparked by Leah Merrill’s two-run double. Skowhegan, though, answered with three runs in bottom half, including RBI singles by Kya Fairley and Natalie Cook.
Skowhegan pitcher Abigale Carey scattered six hits. Merrill, the losing pitcher, also allowed six hits.
