B South semifinal: #4-Medomak Valley vs. #1-Oceanside

at Portland Expo

Tuesday, February 20, 2024

Oceanside 46, Medomak Valley 32

For the second straight season, the Oceanside boys’ basketball team is headed to the Class B South final.

Cohen Galley scored 17 points, Trevin Ripley added 11, and the top-seeded Mariners beat No. 4 Medomak Valley, 46-32, in a regional semifinal Tuesday at the Portland Expo.

The Mariners (20-0) will try to return to the Class B state final, where they lost to Orono last season. Oceanside moved on despite a game that was played at a slower rhythm than its normal hectic pace, and despite getting only three points from Carter Galley, the program’s leading scorer.

Still, with twin brother Cohen leading the way, the Mariners had enough. They led 22-11 at halftime and held the Panthers (16-4) to five points in the third while building a 30-16 lead.

Gabe Lash led Medomak with 13 points.
