MARANACOOK 3, DIRIGO 2, 8 INNINGS
River Fallos singled home Caldre Glowa in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Black Bears (13-4) past the Cougars (8-9) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Readfield.
No. 2 Maranacook will host No. 3 Monmouth Academy (13-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Dirigo took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a bases-loaded walk and a steal of home by Trevor Crosby. Maranacook scored once in the bottom of the first, then tied the game when Noah Longfellow singled, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch in the third.
Grady Hreben struck out 10 in five innings for Maranacook. Alex Spaulding pitched three innings of hitless relief to earn the win.
