Addison DeRoche pitched a perfect game, striking out 18 batters, to lift top-ranked Cheverus to a 7-0 win over fourth-seeded Kennebunk in a Class A South softball semifinal Friday in Portland.
The defending state champion Stags (18-0), ranked No. 1 in the Varsity Maine Top 10, will face Gorham or Windham in the regional final at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.
Kennebunk, ranked No. 5 in the Varsity Maine poll, ends the year at 13-5.
Abby Kelly hit a two-run single in the first inning to give the Stags an early lead. DeRoche added an RBI double, and Hailey Lamontange had three hits, including an RBI single and a double. Delia Tremble also doubled for Cheverus.
