A four-run bottom of the sixth broke a tie and propelled the fourth-seeded Cougars (12-5) to a Class C South quarterfinal victory over the fifth-seeded Falcons (7-10) in Dixfield.
Nikole Turnbull and Emily Woods drove in two runs apiece for Dirigo. Turnbull also tripled, while Lana Waite and Madisyn Bradeen each doubled and Hannah Hamner contributed a pair of singles.
Turnbull was the winning pitcher, striking out four, walking two and allowing five hits.
Kyanah Wing doubled and notched a single for Mountain Valley.
Dirigo will face top-seeded Monmouth (17-0) in the C South semifinals, likely on Saturday.
