The No. 7 Falcons (8-9) held on to win a back-and-forth Class C South round of 16 game against the No. 10 Rebels (6-11) in Rumford.
Telstar struck first, with two runs in the top of the first, and last, with its final run in the top of the seventh, but Mountain Valley’s two-run bottom of the sixth to take an 8-6 lead was the difference.
Alison Legere struck out seven in the circle and added a double at the plate for the Falcons, who face No. 2 Madison in the regional quarterfinals. Brooke Brown notched three hits, and Emma Clukey collected two hits for Mountain Valley. Haley Coulombe doubled in a run.
Natasha Mason picked up five strikeouts in the circle for the Rebels and hit a double at the plate. Makenzie Eliot led Telstar with three hits, including a double of her own, and Macie Hallett and Katie Evans each produced a pair of hits.
