The No. 8 Raiders (8-9) held on to knock out the No. 9 Cougars (7-10) in a Class C South round of 16 game in Wales.
Dirigo was held scoreless until the fifth inning, when the Cougars scored their first run. Oak Hill answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-1 game before Dirigo added two more runs in the sixth.
Madison Drew made a standout defensive play for Oak Hill in the fourth, catching a line drive and then finishing up a double play to stop a Dirigo scoring threat. At the plate, Drew drove in one of the Raiders’ runs.
Aubrey McElhaney, Carli Austin and Kelsey Young each collected two hits, with Young earning the win in the circle by holding the Cougars to three hits. Grace Robbins took the loss for Dirigo.
