Leah Thibodeau scored three goals to pace the Red Eddies (1-1) to victory in their first game on the new field at Edward Little High School.
Thibodeau’s goals came in the first, third and fourth quarters. Mackenzie Joler and Micah Joler had assists, and goalie Kasey Smith made three saves.
Windjammers (0-2) goalie Abby Strout stopped eight shots.
In what Eddies coach Kim Joler said was “a very special moment” prior to the game, Cynthia Peters — who taught at Edward Little for 38 years and has been the Red Eddies’ field hockey time keeper for 36 — performed the coin flip prior to the game.
