CAPE ELIZABETH 56, FREEPORT 12: Jack O’Rourke passed for one touchdown and ran for another within a 26-second span late in the first half as visiting Cape Elizabeth (4-0) beat Freeport (0-4).
The Capers scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to erase a 6-0 deficit, as O’Rourke connected for TD passes with Matt Graham for 22 yards, Brett McAlister for 37 yards and Ben Ekedahl for 56 yards to open a 22-6 lead. After a Freeport fumble, O’Rourke scrambled 35 yards for a score as the first half expired.
Ekedahl added a 6-yard touchdown run, Nate Ingalls had a 74-yard interception return, Jeb Boeschenstein scored on a 1-yard run and Alex Depke broke off a 70-yard TD run for Cape Elizabeth.
The Falcons got on the board first with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Eli Fox to Brady LaFrance. Freeport also scored in the fourth quarter on a 63-yard catch-and-run by T.J. Morrill from Josh Burke.
