Nico Millones scored in the first half and Ollie Hettenbach added a goal in the second half as Portland (8-5) blanked Cheverus (5-5-3), 2-0, in a Class A South boys’ soccer match Thursday evening at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Hettenbach set up the first goal on a cross that was deflected to Millones, who beat Stags keeper Luke McNabb (five saves).

Hettenbach’s goal in the second half came on a shot that deflected off a defender and into the net.

Ben Littell made two saves for the Bulldogs.

At halftime, Portland honored its first varsity team from 1972.
