Four runs in the first inning were more than enough for freshman pitcher Trent Holst in the Hornets’ victory over the Eagles in China.
Holst struck out 13 batters and allowed three hits during his six scoreless innings on the mound. He also helped out on offense with a double.
Jace Negley led Leavitt’s (10-2) attack, going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Catcher Luke Gladu also hit a double, and Will Keach and Kade Knight contributed two singles apiece.
Landen Blodgett tallied two hits for Erskine (2-10).
