Eli Bigelow scored two long touchdowns and set up another score with a big play as the Blue Devils (4-3) beat the Cougars (3-4) in Farmington.

With one regular season game remaining, Lewiston has four wins, its most since 2017.

“Our players showed true grit tonight,” Blue Devils coach Jason Versey said. “The field conditions were extremely challenging; it was impossible to get traction. Mt. Blue athletes played inspired and competed at a high level for their senior night. It was a true test for us. Our guys responded extremely well and played as one unified team. We were able to make some big plays on offense and defense when we needed to.”

Bigelow opened the scoring with a 67-yard punt return less than three minutes into the opening quarter.

Mt. Blue answered right back. Issac Wrigley returned the ensuing kickoff 87 yards for a score, tying the game at 6-6.

Late in the second half, a pass by Dylan Allan to Bigelow gained 55 yards and set up the Blue Devils inside the Cougars’ 5-yard line with 35 seconds to play. Quarterback Jeffrey Randall put Lewiston ahead 13-6 with a 1-yard TD run with 15 seconds left in the half.

Farid Muhammed-Aceto scored the Blue Devils’ next touchdown on a 1-yard run with 2:51 remaining in the third quarter.

Bigelow made it 27-6 with an 82-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth.

Bigelow finished with 151 yards rushing on 10 carries, along with the one reception for 55 yards.

“Eli Bigelow had two electrifying touchdowns,” Versey said. “… He’s got to be in the conversation as one of the best offensive players in the state. The kid is just amazing.”

Muhammed-Aceto carried 16 times for 65 yards.

Joseph Dube led the Blue Devils’ defense with 9.5 tackles and was part of two sacks. Allen intercepted a pass and had five tackles, and Jayden Brown had six tackles, including four for losses.

“Our defensive line, led by sophomore Joe Dube, played phenomenally. Our secondary was tested nearly every play. I couldn’t be more proud of them,” Versey said.

Lewiston has a bye next before facing rival Edward Little (2-5) in the final game at Walton Field on Oct. 28.

Mt. Blue concludes its regular season at Gardiner (3-4) on Friday.
