MOUNTAIN VALLEY 18, BOOTHBAY 15, 11 INNINGS
Jake New and Zach New had four hits apiece and Tanner Henry played the hero in extra innings as the Falcons (1-8) outlasted the Seahawks (1-8) in an 11-inning affair in Boothbay Harbor.
Henry made a game-saving play on defense to end the bottom of the 10th, then smacked a two-run double in a five-run top of the 11th for Mountain Valley.
Jake New earned the win on the mound for the Falcons after coming on in relief in the ninth inning. Seneca Jones closed out the game in the bottom of the 11th, after earlier taking over for starter Airick Richard in the fourth. Henry relieved Jones in the eighth before it was New’s turn to toe the rubber.
Richard and Henry each had two hits, as did catcher Tyler Warren.
