Guard Michael Murphy swooped in for 30 points as Sacopee Valley grabbed a 60-54 victory over Rangeley in boy’s basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The Lakers (5-3) got cold in the second quarter with a 6-17 deficit that made the difference down the stretch. Sophomore guard Kenneth Thompson scored a team-leading 21 points, while junior guard Nolan Boone drained another 18 for Rangeley.
The Hawks (2-5) managed to make 10 of their 14 fourth quarter points on free throws, matching the Lakers in points for the quarter and preserving the same six-point lead they had at the half to secure their second win of the season.
