POLAND 6, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 5

The Knights put the kibosh on the Patriots’ seventh-inning rally to earn a rivalry victory in Poland.

Poland (6-3) broke a 3-3 tie with one run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth, and took a 6-3 lead into the final inning. Gray-New Gloucester (2-7) scored twice in the top of the seventh before Knights pitcher Regan Cohen shut down the comeback bid.

Cohen pitched a complete game with five strikeouts, seven hits and one walk. Shortstop Alex Mains singled, drove in a run and scored two runs for Poland. Sam Paladino, Shawn West and Landon Cooper each had an RBI, while Cohen Demuth scored two runs.

Nick Geer hit a solo home run and scored twice for Gray-New Gloucester. Cole Thibodeau had a game-high two hits and scored twice, and Kaiden Chase drove in a pair of runs for the Patriots.

Geer also pitched 3 2/3 innings, striking out three batters while giving up three runs on two hits.
