Freshman Gavin Pellerin scored the tiebreaking goal through a screen with 6:37 remaining, lifting the fifth-seeded Trojans (14-5) over 12th-seeded Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse (6-13) in a Class A prelim at Biddeford Ice Arena.
Evan Beaudette added an empty-netter as Thornton advanced to face No. 4 Falmouth in the quarterfinals.
Thornton broke a scoreless deadlock midway through the second period when a Mt. Ararat player tried to clear a loose puck in front of the net but knocked it in. Zander Kirk answered with a power-play goal at 13:09, deflecting a shot from the slot by Dylan Richards.
