Andrew Heffernan finished with a single, triple and four RBI as the third-seeded Red Riots (14-3) topped the No. 14 Rams (3-14) in an A South first -ound matchup in South Portland.
Ryan Thurber added three RBI on a double and a single and Richard Gilboy had a two-run single for South Portland, which advances to the A South quarterfinals on Thursday.
Qwest Newhall led Deering with two hits.
