A seven-run fifth inning helped the Hornets break open a one-run game, leading them to a season-opener victory against the Tigers in Turner.
Noah Carpenter hit a two-run homer run in the fifth inning for Leavitt (1-0). Hornets catcher Luke Gladu added a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Colton Taylor pitched six scoreless innings for the Hornets, striking out seven and scattering five hits. Taylor also chipped in two hits, one a double.
Cam Madore tallied a double for the Tigers (0-1).
