MONMOUTH ACADEMY 13, LISBON 3, 5 INNINGS
The Mustangs scored six runs in the second inning, with three of those coming off a single by Kyle Palleschi, in their five-inning win over the Greyhounds in Monmouth.
Monmouth (1-0) added five runs on four hits in the third inning, and finished off the victory with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Sammy Calder doubled and drove in three runs for the Mustangs. Calder, Lucas Harmon and Noah Schultz and Jake Harmon each tallied two hits for the Mustangs. Lucas Harmon and Schultz also doubled.
As pitcher, Calder surrendered two hits and one run over 2 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking two.
Pitcher Jimmy Fitzsimmons took the loss for Lisbon. He struck out four batters in two innings.
Cody Osmond, Jacoby Tuplin, Brayden Decato and Keeghan Morrissette each logged one hit for the Greyhounds (1-1).
