June Foyt singled home Rileigh Chase in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and the Mustangs (10-2) edged the rival Ramblers (7-7) in Winthrop.
Shanna Parsons had a pair of singles and two RBIs for Monmouth, and also pitched the first five innings. She and reliever Brooklyn Federico held Winthrop to just four hits. Federico struck out two of the final three batters of the game to end the contest.
Madi Herr hit a double for the Mustangs.
Annabell Blais had two hits, including a triple, for the Ramblers, and Maddie Perkins drove in two runs.
