Charlie Houghton dropped in the game-high 20 points and went 3-for-3 at the free-throw line to help the Cougars (3-1) the Mustangs (4-1) their first loss of the season in a tight victory in Dixfield.
Dirigo held a 28-21 lead at halftime, but Monmouth closed in during the fourth quarter. Hayden Fletcher led the Mustangs with 13 points and teammate Sammy Calder
