Jace Bessey made his scoring mark multiple ways as the Phoenix (4-1) finished off a back-and-forth matchup against the Shipbuilders (1-5) in Jay.

Bessey poured in a game-high 23 points, including 7 of 9 free throws to go along with five 2-pointers and a pair of 3-pointers. Cai Dougher pitched in with 11 points for Spruce Mountain, which trailed after one quarter and held slim leads after the second and third before making some breathing room in the fourth.

Trace McFarland led Morse with 14 points, with nine of those coming on three treys. Calin Gould added 11.
