Sammy Calder started hot and shot his way to a game-high 24 points in the Mustangs’ (2-1) home win over the Falcons (1-2) in Monmouth.
Calder scored eight points in the first quarter and added six more in the second for Monmouth. Levi Laverdiere added 10 points and Lucas Harmon pitched in with nine.
Jake New paced Mountain Valley with 16 points, with all but two coming in the final three quarters.
