The Cougars’ (1-1) top of the order, combined with the Dragons’ (1-3) mistakes led to a five-inning win in Brunswick.

Mt. Blue leadoff batter Gage DeCarolis had three hits and three RBIs, and No. 2 hitter Nolan Leso supplied two singles and a walk. Leso also pitched two hitless innings to start, striking out four and walking one. Dane Cousineau also pitched two hitless innings of relief, striking out three.

Brunswick was done in by eight errors. Starter Tyler Maxim only allowed two hits in three innings, and only three of the nine runs he gave up were earned, but the Cougars drew eight walks against him. A bright spot for the Dragons was Noah Gaghan, who doubled and drove in two runs. Liam Scholl had Brunswick’s other hit and also drove in a run.
