MT. BLUE 6, LEAVITT 4, 8 INNINGS

The Cougars (5-6) scored twice in the eighth inning to escape Turner with a victory over the Hornets (5-8).

Mt. Blue broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the top of the seventh, but Leavitt answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning to force extra innings. Finally, in the eighth, the Cougars grabbed a lead that the Hornets weren’t able to answer.

Mt. Blue took its first lead with three runs in the second inning, but Leavitt scored one run in the second, third and fifth innings to tie the game.

Brody Walsh homered and drove in three runs for the Cougars. Isaac Wrigley added two hits, including a double, for Mt. Blue, as did Jayden Meader, Nolan Leso and Hayden Durrell. Hayden Dippner pitched four innings of relief and earned the win.

Noah Carpenter and Connor DeCoster each had a pair of hits for Leavitt.
