The Golden Trojans (7-4) built a 7-0 lead after three innings and held off the Spartans (9-3) in Sanford.
Josh Penney doubled and drove in three runs for Thornton, which used four pitchers. Blake Bolduc closed out the victory with three hitless innings.
Beckett Barlow and Ryan Alexander each hit an RBI single for the Spartans.
