Tadhg O’Donnell scored eight of his 11 points in the fourth quarter, when the Red Riots (7-2) rallied from a four-point deficit to get past the Trojans (7-2) in Saco.
O’Donnell made two of his three 3-pointers in the fourth as South Portland outscored Thornton 15-7.
Darius Johnson led the Red Riots with 20 points, while Gabe Jackson finished with 10.
David Katanga paced Thornton with 15 points, including four 3-pointers.
