Natalia and Gabby Silva combined for 16 points in the first quarter as Biddeford grabbed a 20-2 lead on its way to a 49-29 victory over Portland in a Class A South girls basketball game Wednesday at the Portland Expo.
Jordyn Crump finished with 15 points, and the Silva sisters each got eight of their 12 points in the opening eight minutes. The ninth-ranked team in the Varsity Maine poll and the No. 4 team in Class A South improved to 13-2.
Lawino Bendasta led Portland (3-11) with nine points.
