Akol Maiwen scored 26 points and Cedric Makelele added 18 as the second-seeded Red Eddies (15-4) pulled away in the fourth quarter for a Class A North quarterfinal win at the Augusta Civic Center.

Edward Little will face No. 3 Brunswick in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Up 48-45 a minute into the fourth quarter, Edward Little went on an 11-3 run to put the game away. Christian Rodriguez scored all five of his points during the surge, and Carson Veillieux pulled down four rebounds to keep seventh-seeded Hampden (9-10) at bay.

The Eddies led 29-13 midway through the second quarter before the a 10-0 Hampden run, capped by a 3-pointer from Mason Studley, who finished with a team-high 17 points.

Edward Little led 48-38 late in the third, only for the Broncos to score seven straight points to close the gap to 48-45.

Maiwen, confronted by Hampden’s in-your-face defense throughout the game, drained five his team’s eight 3-pointers.

Sawyer Worcester and Miles Shain scored 13 points apiece for Hampden.
