A dominant third quarter boosted the seventh-seeded Cougars (11-7) over the 10th-seeded Black Raiders (8-11) in a Class C South preliminary-round game in Dixfield.

Dirigo trailed 13-6 after one quarter and 24-17 at halftime before outscoring Winslow 17-2 in the third to seize control.

Dirigo’s Brady Philbrick topped all scorers with 18 points. He hit five 3-pointers, including four in the second half, and made 3 of 4 foul shots. Owen Smith added 12 points and Nolan Houghton scored 10 for the Cougars, who advance to face No. 2 Hall-Dale in the quarterfinals Monday at the Augusta Civic Center.

Carter Calvo led Winslow with 15 points, and Noah Harding had 12.
