Max Hayward was 4 for 4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored and also earned a save as the Capers (2-1) held off the Patriots (0-3) in Cape Elizabeth.
Gray-New Gloucester erased most of an early 5-0 deficit, but a three-run sixth for the Capers proved to be the difference.
Finn Connolly belted a triple, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Capers. Caiden Johnson was 2 for 2 with two runs and an RBI.
Landon Wilson hit a double and drove in two runs for the Patriots. Mason Amergian contributed two hits.
