Trent Holst hit a home run and struck out 11 batters to lead Leavitt (10-1) to a victory over the Cougars (6-3) in Farmington.
Each team finished with four hits as Holst won a pitchers’ duel with Mt. Blue starter Karter Meader. Holst walked three and allowed two hits in six innings, while Meader allowed two hits, fanned five and walked three in six innings. Ryder Sawyer-Brown pitched the final inning for Leavitt and earned a save.
Sawyer-Brown drove in the Hornets’ first run with a double that scored Holst in the third inning. Holst made it a 3-0 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh.
