WINSLOW 21, SUMNER 13

Adrianna Lombardi belted five hits, drove in three runs and scored five times to help the ninth-seeded Black Raiders (9-8) win a high-scoring Class C North prelim against the No. 8 Tigers in Sullivan.

Winslow finished with 19 hits and drew 10 walks. The Black Raiders started fast, scoring four runs in each of the first two innings, but Sumner got off to an even better start, plating six runs in the first and six more in the second to grab a 12-8 lead. Winslow, though, took control with a six-run top of the third and pulled away by scoring in every inning thereafter.

Lombardi went 5-for-6. Maddy Cochran was 4-for-5, including a double, and scored three runs. Emilee Feyler drove in five runs on two hits, and Bella Loubier, Grace Melvin and Kamryn Myatt each contributed two RBI for the Raiders. Melvin also pitched all seven innings and struck out eight batters while walking two. She allowed one more run in the third then held the Tigers scoreless over the final four innings.

Sumner tallied 16 hits, led by Brooklyn Moore, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Rebekah Perry-Lind, Kelly Leighton, Cailin Chase, Ciara Trundy and Makinley Crowley finished with two hits apiece. Chase and Trundy each drove in two runs.

Winslow advances to face top-seeded Bucksport (15-1) in a C North quarterfinal on Thursday.
