Joseph Grela and Max Hayward keyed the Capers’ (1-1) offense as they dealt the Warriors (2-1) their first loss of the season in a Western Maine Conference contest in Wells.
Grela had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored for Cape Elizabeth. Hayward drove in three runs on two hits and scored twice. Hayward, Grela and Cal Day each had a double, while Henry Trowbridge and Cooper Justh contributed two hits apiece.
Cape Elizabeth starter Finn Connolly struck out five over 5 1/3 innings to earn the win.
Mason Colbeth had two hits, including a double, for Wells, and Owen Bonenfant scored three runs.
