Grant Walters capped a tiebreaking rally in the third inning with a two-run single, and the Black Bears opened their season with a win over Bulldogs (0-2) in Readfield.
Maranacook pitchers Grady Hreben, Austin Tibbetts and Caldre Glowa combined on a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
Jack Spellman got two of Maranacook’s seven hits. The Black Bears scored three runs in the third inning to grab a 5-2 lead.
