Noah Hebert and Nate Hebert combined for 15 points during a second-quarter run, and the top-seeded Patriots (17-2) broke the game open with a 15-0 run starting late in the third quarter as they secured a Class A South quarterfinal win over the eighth-seeded Raiders (8-12) at the Portland Expo.

The Patriots closed the first half with eight straight points, including two 3-pointers by Noah Hebert, to open a 35-25 lead. Fryeburg closed to within 50-44 late in the third, but Noah Hebert ended the quarter with a three-point play, then started the fourth by throwing down a dunk on a pass from his brother, Aidan. The lead quickly swelled to 65-44 with the help of two baskets by Aidan Hebert.

Noah Hebert (18 points), Nate Hebert (16), Johnny Patenaude (15) and Aidan Hebert (11) finished in double figures, while the Patriots’ other starter, Carter Libby, scored nine points.

Fryeburg’s Jagger Helwig set a Class A South tournament record with eight 3-pointers and finished with 26 points, but he was the only Raider in double figures.

Gray-New Gloucester next faces No. 4 Freeport in the semifinals on Wednesday.
