TELSTAR 6, BUCKFIELD 5, 10 INNINGS

Freshman Owen Beaton’s 10th-inning single scored Connor Deprey and gave the second-seeded Rebels (15-3) a walk-off win over the third-seeded Bucks (11-7) in a Class D South semifinal in Bethel.

Telstar will face No. 1 Richmond (16-1) for the regional championship Tuesday at St. Joseph’s College.

The Rebels were twice down to their last at-bats while facing a one-run deficit. Trailing 4-3 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Michael Early scored on a wild pitch to force extra innings.

Jame Tyne scored on an error in the top of the eighth to again put Buckfield up by one run, 5-4, but Telstar answered in the bottom the eighth with a run by Maceo Bartlett.

Beaton and Bartlett had three hits apiece. Telstar starter Bryson Walker struck out 11 while walking two and scattering six hits over 6 1/3 innings. Deprey earned the win, fanning six and allowing two hits and one run in 3 2/3 innings or relief.

Tyne led Buckfield’s offense with three hits, and Nate Thomas added two hits.
