Natalia Silva scored 10 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 24.0 seconds remaining, to lift fourth-seeded Biddeford to a 45-42 win over fifth-seeded Windham in a Class A South girls basketball quarterfinal Tuesday at the Portland Expo.

Jordyn Crump (14 points) sealed the game for Biddeford by sinking a pair of free throws with 4.3 seconds left and then grabbing a steal to prevent a final shot from Windham.

“I’m a shooter,” Silva said. “I missed the first couple, and it was definitely hard to get my momentum going, but once I (made the first three of the fourth quarter), I was just like, ‘OK, I need to start picking it up for our team, so we can actually have a chance.”

Biddeford entered the fourth with a 30-26 advantage, but Windham took a 31-30 lead with 6:09 left. Silva and her twin sister, Gabriella, twice tied the game with 3-pointers, and a post move from Natalia Silva made it 40-40.

A transition bucket from Isabella Vassoler (11 points) gave the Eagles their final lead with 1:47 remaining.

Biddeford was running a full-court press all game, but the Tigers didn’t have much success until they forced a 10-second violation on the defensive possession before Silva’s go-ahead shot. Coach Jeannine Paradis gave the Silva twins and Crump the green light to take the final shot.

“We have three kids who consistently can hit the 3, so we know where to send the ball to if we need to send it,” Paradis said. “They found Natalia at that point … I knew it was going in. There are times when you can sit there and tell.”

Mackenzie Delewski led Windham with 13 points and 16 rebounds.
