Annie Whitmore scored 14 of her 19 points in the second half, and the third-seeded Red Riots (17-2) bounced back from a shaky first half to beat the No. 6 Blue Blazes (12-8) in a Class A South quarterfinal at the Portland Expo.
The Red Riots trailed 22-16 at halftime but clamped down on defense after the break, holding Westbrook to two points over the next 10 minutes.
Caleigh Corcoran and Mya Lawrence each finished with seven points for South Portland, last year’s Class AA champion.
Audrey Doolittle led Westbrook with 13 points.
